PlanAMeeting

Find open meeting times across your guests' calendars, without leaving the event you're editing.

PlanAMeeting is a Google Workspace add-on for Google Calendar. Open it from any calendar event, and it checks the free/busy availability of everyone you've already added as a guest — then suggests open times that work for the whole group, right inside Calendar's own side panel.

How it works

• Add guests to an event using Calendar's own "Add guests" panel, as you normally would.
• Open PlanAMeeting from that event. It reads the guest list you've already built and checks each person's free/busy availability.
• Choose a date range, duration, work hours, and timezone, then find open slots.
• Copy a ready-to-send summary of the times that work, to paste into an email or message.

What it doesn't do

• It never lets you type in participants manually — the list always comes from the event's own guests, so it can't drift out of sync with what's actually on the invite.
• It never reads event titles, descriptions, attachments, or any calendar content beyond free/busy availability.
• It doesn't send email, create events, or modify your calendar in any way.

Permissions it asks for

PlanAMeeting requests exactly three narrow permissions, and nothing broader:

• calendar.freebusy — to check when guests are free or busy, without reading their event details.
• calendar.addons.execute — required by Google for any Calendar add-on to display its interface at all.
• calendar.addons.current.event.read — to read the guest list of the one event you currently have open, so you don't have to retype it.
